Growing Up Your Baby Leopard Gecko

Have your Leopard Gecko lay eggs yet? If YES, that was a good news to hear. But do you know how to take care the babies and how to growing the up? I am sure most of us adopt our Leopard Gecko since it is already grown up. But when it come to the babies, most of us don't have any ideas on how to take care of them. So that was a bad news to the babies.

Being a Leopard Gecko lover, you need to know at least the basic knowledge on how to take care of it especially the babies. Taking care of babies is quite tough compared to the grown up. So here are some effectively guide on how to take care of baby Leopard Gecko.

First we can start from the egg. Usually, start from 40-60 days, you can see droplets of water on the egg's shell. Then it start to shrink and nearly collapse. This means the egg is starting to hatch. At first, you may be surprise because this babies possess an unusual tooth called "egg tooth" at the end of it snout. This "egg tooth" is use to to break the egg shell. Don't worry about this tooth because it will fall after a day or more. After hatched for the egg, the skin only will shed within 24 hours. Please note that it wont be able to eat anything before the skin shed. So do not force them to eat within that period.

The second thing to do is separate the babies from it parents. If you have more babies, you can provide it with another siblings/baby. It is best to keep it pair if you have more than three babies since overcrowded will affect their growth and give them more competition among the babies. Keep them in a small aquarium so they will not crawling to far from each other.

Then you need to put a hideout place for this babies as their basic use. This will make the babies more comfortable and lessen it stress. Then try to play with them easily and calmly. Build trust between you and them. So they wont afraid and feel threatened by you. After the babies gain some confident with you, they automatically will crawl into your hands. While holding and raised them up with your hand, do it carefully and make sure not to surprise them because they might jump down if surprise and will cause some injury.

When holding Leopard Gecko babies, please avoid to touch it tails. If you accidentally touch the tail incorrectly, it might shed off. The tails contains large amount of fat that use by the babies. It will affect the health if the tail was detached.

Please feed the babies with small amount of food. Do not overfeed them. If you feed the babies with crickets, it is advisable to remove the cricket's rear leg to make it less mobility. So it is easier for the babies to catch and eat the crickets. Last but not least, please take care the babies from any infections. Always clean the aquarium and keep them healthy and happy.
